The Fashion and Textile Museum, part of Newham College, is looking for a part-time Collections and Conservation Coordinator.
We are seeking someone with fashion and textile collection care, handling, and conservation experience to join our small but dynamic team at an exciting time for the Museum collection. The postholder will take responsibility for the organising and care of the Museum’s contemporary fashion and textile collection in particular updating collection information on Modes software. As the Museum collection is not on permanent display, you will collaborate with the team to increase accessibility and engagement with the collection in other ways.
The postholder will also be working with and care for world-class fashion and textile collections from lenders around the world who lend to the Museum’s temporary exhibitions and exhibitions on tour. The role is based at the Fashion and Textile Museum on Bermondsey Street, London with regular travel to offsite storage in East Ham, London. The role also requires some travel nationally and abroad.
The Fashion and Textile Museum, London was founded in 2003, by icon of British design, Dame Zandra Rhodes. Today, the Museum is owned and operated by Newham College, London – one of Europe’s largest further education colleges. Situated in the heart of fashionable Bermondsey Village, the Museum is housed in a beautiful and distinctive building, designed by renowned Mexican architect, Ricardo Legorreta.
